    Contamination Original Soundtrack LP

“Contamination” was released in 1980 as a soundtrack for the eponymous horror/science fiction film, during what probably was the most prolific period in Goblin’s career, even if the band had already been abandoned by guitarist Massimo Morante and keyboardist Claudio Simonetti. Unkonwn by most listeners, it’s a release that deserves more attention, since it shows a wide range of music styles (Jazz, funk, rock, electronic) and once again Goblin’s ability in writing film scores.

    Midsommar Original Soundtrack LP

Midsommar is the sophomore film written and directed by Ari Aster (Hereditary). Starring Florence Pugh and Jack Reynor, the film follows a struggling couple traveling to Sweden to visit their friend’s rural hometown for its fabled midsummer festival. What begins as an idyllic retreat quickly devolves into an increasingly violent and bizarre competition at the hands of a pagan cult.

As in Aster’s breakout horror debut Hereditary, music plays a central role in Midsommar. Composer Bobby Krlic (aka The Haxan Cloak) has crafted a gorgeous score that elevates the film to a new level. He also produced all the diegetic music played by the members of the community in the film. Instead of your usual horror score, Bobby Krlic developed beautiful and harmonious compositions that complement the on the surface beauty of the Swedish rural setting while underlying the subtle and terrifying truth that hides in the shadow throughout the film.

    The Witch Original Soundtrack LP

The Witch is an incredible horror film directed by Robert Eggers (The Lighthouse). Set on the edge of a dark forest in 17th-century New England, The Witch is a tale of only family’s terrifying unraveling under the specter of black magic, possession and an unknown evil. When an English farmer leaves his colonial plantation and relocates his family to a remote plot of land, strange and unsettling occurrences begin happening immediately – animals become vicious, crops wilt and one of the children disappears. Paranoia grips the family as they accuse one of their own of witchcraft.

Any great horror film has an equally impressive composer and The Witch is no different. Mark Korven has created a one-of-a-kind spine-chilling score by employing obscure instrumentation from hurdy gurdys to nyckelharps. The result is a discordant, spectral affair that draws the listener into the misty world of the family’s farm as horror permeates throughout.

The Black Phone Original Soundtrack LP

The phone is dead. And it’s ringing.

In collaboration with Back Lot Music, Waxwork Records is proud to present THE BLACK PHONE Original Motion Picture Soundtrack by Mark Korven.

Director Scott Derrickson returns to his terror roots partnering again with the foremost brand in the genre, Blumhouse, with a new horror thriller.

Based on an eponymous short story by Joe Hill, The Black Phone follows Finney Shaw, a shy but clever 13-year-old boy, who is abducted by a sadistic killer and trapped in a soundproof basement where screaming is of little use. When a disconnected phone on the wall begins to ring, Finney discovers that he can hear the voices of the killer’s previous victims. And they are dead set on making sure that what happened to them doesn’t happen to Finney.

Starring four-time Oscar® nominee Ethan Hawke in the most terrifying role of his career and introducing Mason Thames in his first ever film role, The Black Phone is produced, directed, and co-written by Scott Derrickson, the writer-director of Sinister, The Exorcism of Emily Rose and Marvel’s Doctor Strange.

The score for the film was created by composer Mark Korven, the mastermind behind The Witch, The Lighthouse, and Into the Tall Grass. Korven is a Toronto-based award winning composer and multi-instrumentalist. He is known for his innovation and experimental approach to film scoring. In 2016, Korven conceived the notorious horror musical instrument, The Apprehension Engine.

    The Descent Original Soundtrack LP

Burning Witches Records are honored to present the David Julyan score to one of the greatest British horror films ever made – The Descent.

Neil Marshall’s sophomore film, 2005’s The Descent, brought the British filmmaker into Masters of Horror territory (and for good reason). The claustrophobic as hell look at a group of women exploring caves while also coming to terms with internal secrets, untreated trauma and if all of that wasn’t bad enough: cave dwelling creatures, hungry for blood, shocked audiences worldwide and solidified Marshall as a filmmaker to watch out for.

Like the cavernous horror playing out in front of us, composer David Julyan’s score for The Descent engulfs its listener in a claustrophobic yet ethereal atmosphere, easing you in with its beautiful string arrangements, before closing into such dreadfully tight sounds of horror. A combination of symphonic and ambient sounds, Julyan uses his knack for world building, utilizing the composer’s ability to combine the classical and the experimental into a cornucopia of mood and tone.  – Jerry Smith

In exchange for Dario Argento’s help on Dawn of the Dead, George Romero allowed Argento to release a different (more explicit) cut of the movie in Europe. This version was called “Zombi”. Instead of the library music score that Romero had used, Argento enlisted the help of his pals Goblin to record a new soundtrack. The result is a brilliant score; menacing, thrilling and totally suited to the movie. There’s even a sleazy lounge-esque track.

    Suspiria Original Soundtrack LP

Probably the scariest soundtrack Goblin has ever written (don’t listen to it when the lights are down!); it seems that the score was composed before the film was ready, so that director Dario Argento had to make some changes to the movie script, in order to have the music perfectly suited!

This legendary soundtrack combines elements of music and sound scary effects going far beyond traditional background scoring, becoming an integral part of the film. As critics say nowadays, SUSPIRIA music “is so perfectly integrated into the film, fares less well as a stand-alone item. All that pounding, howling, thumbing, and wheezing is enough to send chills down your spine even without the movie images (it is the perfect imaginary soundtrack), but not all of it could be called a pleasant listening experience (unless your idea of pleasant is having your nerves set on edge)”.

  • Blood Harvest Original Soundtrack EP

Jill has just returned home from college to the rural farm community where she grew up, only to discover that her parents have mysteriously vanished. Learning that her father, a banker, has become the local pariah for overseeing land foreclosures on local farmers, Jill quickly becomes the victim of a series of strange and increasingly depraved assaults. With only her childhood friend and former lover, Gary, and his mentally unstable brother, Mervo (Tiny Tim), willing to believe her, Jill begins to fear for her life. All the while, a stocking-masked killer is abducting, torturing, and brutally killing those closest to Jill…

With Tiny Tim’s Marvelous Mervo serving as an obvious visual inspiration for the 2019 Joker film, Blood Harvest is as scary and unsettling as it is charming and whimsical. The soundtrack features the undeniably catchy Marvelous Mervo theme performed by Tiny Tim in his inimitable style. George Daugherty fills out the rest with a hauntingly dissonant synth score.

This special, limited edition picture disc EP features Tiny Tim’s performance of “Marvelous Mervo’s Theme” on side A and “Marvelous Mervo’s Musical Malarkey,” a newly created mix of the film’s music and dialogue, on side B.

  • The Prowler Original Soundtrack LP

Waxwork Records is thrilled to kick off 2019 with the deluxe vinyl release of THE PROWLER Original Motion Picture Soundtrack by Richard Einhorn. Released in 1981, THE PROWLER is one of the earliest films to become part of the American-Slasher genre. It also features special effects by Tom Savini (Friday the 13th, Creepshow, Day Of The Dead) and was directed by Joseph Zito (Friday The 13th Part IV: The Final Chapter). The film’s music by Richard Einhorn (Shock Waves, Don’t Go In The House) introduces the composer’s departure from the primitive, monophonic synth scoring of his earlier work, and implements a blend of orchestral cues and mature electronic soundscapes. Waxwork Records worked with the composer to research and locate the master tapes that were thought to have been destroyed for decades. The tapes were restored, transferred, and the music was mixed, constructed into a cohesive soundtrack listening experience, and mastered specifically for vinyl. This special release is a must for fans of the horror genre.

THE PROWLER was released just one year after the critical success of FRIDAY THE 13TH, and has become one of the classic, underrated American-Slasher horror gems. The film is downright scary and features some of the most shocking death scenes of the entire horror movie genre due in part to the expertise of special effects mastermind, Tom Savini. The story tells of a group of college students holding a graduation dance 35 years after a double homicide occurred in their small town. They are targeted by a masked assailant dressed in World War II G.I. fatigues who begins a murderous spree.

This new, definitive double LP film score release of THE PROWLER features all of the film’s music composed by Richard Einhorn pressed to 180 gram Army Green Swirl with Rose Petal Red Splatter, new artwork by Ghoulish Gary Pullin, exclusive liner notes by director Joseph Zito, and a printed insert featuring Rosemary’s break-up letter.

  • Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2022) Original Soundtrack LP

Waxwork Records is thrilled to present TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE (2022) Original Netflix Motion Picture Soundtrack by Colin Stetson!

In partnership with Milan Records, TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE (SOUNDTRACK FROM THE NETFLIX FILM) by GRAMMY Award®-winning saxophonist, multi-instrumentalist, songwriter and composer Colin Stetson (Hereditary, Color Out Of Space) features music written by Stetson for the long-awaited sequel to the 1974 horror classic. The 23-track collection finds Stetson expertly layering a multitude of sounds and instruments to create a hauntingly brutal, industrial soundscape.

From a filmmaking team that includes Fede Alvarez (Evil Dead, Don’t Breathe) and Kim Henkel, co-writer of the 1974 classic, The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE arrives on Netflix today, February 18, 2022.

Of the album, composer Colin Stetson says, “It has been an honor and just way too much fun getting to musically world-build in the Texas Chainsaw Massacre universe.  As with the subject matter and our iconic villain – all sputtering engines, metal scraping metal, faces on faces – the music is the sound of an old and decrepit abattoir, stirring to life and rattling off the dust after a great many years idle; made with Contrabass Saxophones, Tibetan bowls, and a hearty dose of wild turkey hunting calls; all twisted, stretched, and wearing masks of their own.”

  • C.H.U.D. Original Soundtrack LP

Waxwork Records is proud to present C.H.U.D. Original Motion Picture Soundtrack! In close partnership with the film's composers Martin Cooper and David Hughes, we located the original 1984 master tapes, restored them, and mixed and mastered the complete film music to create the definitive and official C.H.U.D. soundtrack album release.

Released in 1984, C.H.U.D. has gained a devoted cult following amongst B-Movie Horror fans. The film is widely referenced in pop culture via The Simpsons, Archer, and most recently, Jordan Peele's Us. C.H.U.D. has also served as a launching pad for several actors such as John Goodman (Roseanne, The Big Lebowski, Raising Arizona), Daniel Stern (Home Alone), and John Heard (Home Alone).

The primitive electronic score composed and performed by Martin Cooper and David Hughes captures the seedy, grim landscape that embodied early 1980s NYC via synth drones, sound design, loops, and arpeggiated notes.

Waxwork is thrilled to present the complete film music to C.H.U.D. as a deluxe LP package featuring "Toxic Waste Splatter" colored vinyl, deluxe packaging, art by Ghoulish Gary Pullin, old style tip-on gatefold jackets with matte satin coating, printed inner sleeves, liner notes by the composers, and more.

  • Titane Original Soundtrack LP

In conjunction with Milan Records, Death Waltz Recording Co. is thrilled to bring you Jim Williams’ incredible score to TITANE. Reuniting with director Julia Docouranu (he also scored RAW) and hot on the heels of his outstanding work on last year’s POSSESSOR, Williams once again proves that he is one of the very best composers working today. His work here is, at times, cold, pulsating and ominous. However, these pieces are interspersed with tender passages that offer glimmers of hope, shining through in the form of warm tones and intricate melodies.

Williams said, “The score for TITANE grows from a short theme for a scene where the protagonist leaves home in startling circumstances. Initially in a contemporary popular music style with a tinge of John Barry, later this was set with metal percussion and male voice choir using the Neapolitan Minor for a scene set in a car. As the film develops, the theme takes on an emotional, darker twist.” Williams continued, “The main theme for the film [‘Sarabande’] is finally set in a Baroque style – a sarabande – that at first has the pomp of George Frideric Handel, but that later becomes tender, if rather twisted.”

  • Space Amoeba Original Soundtrack LP

TOHO, the creators of GODZILLA, unleash SPACE AMOEBA aka Gezora-Ganime-Kameba: Kessen! Nankai No Daikaijû! A space probe is lost while on its way to the planet Jupiter but returns to Earth after being overtaken by a deadly and dastardly single-celled organism.

The organism then mutates into giant kaiju that mimic a cuttlefish, a stone crab, and a matamata turtle, and uses these destructive forms in their plan to take over the planet. The only thing that stands between humanity and the insidious invertebrates is a group of photographers doing recon for a tourism company!

Directing, of course, is the legendary Ishirō Honda (MOTHRA, RODAN) alongside producer Tomoyuki Tanaka, with the dreamy Akira Kubo (DESTROY ALL MONSTERS) as photographer Kudo. As with GODZILLA, Honda recruited the great Akira Ifukube to compose the thrilling score, and Ifukube brought his trademark innovation and dramatic grandeur.

The title theme is beautifully distinctive, mixing thick brass and low piano to match the destruction of the kaiju with higher horns and trumpet, providing a lighter contrast. Ifukube scores action and horror with his iconic lumbering colours but provides suspense with piano and otherworldly strings, with a unique slithering theme for the evil amoeba. Another Ifukube triumph! (Charlie Brigden)

  • Zeder Original Soundtrack LP

First-ever vinyl edition of “Zeder” soundtrack, one of the best Italian thriller/horror movies ever!

The music composer is Riz Ortolani (“Mondo Cane” and “Cannibal Holocaust” stand out among his many works), here collaborating with director Pupi Avati for the second time: this soundtrack expertly blends
electronic and symphonic music, the latter here consisting mainly of an orchestral string section often repetitive, hypnotic and insistent, that reflects the arrogance of the protagonist in continuing his research, no matter what the consequences could be. There is no shortage of funk-filled brighter
themes and requiems, suspended songs full of tension and sudden vibe changes, melancholic melodies and eerie soundscapes.

“Zeder” is today a cult movie, released in theaters in 1983, at a time when hardly anyone dared to shoot anything that had to do with zombies. Pupi Avati went against the tide then, giving life to an atmospheric horror film set in a sunny Italian Romagna Riviera – a typical destination for cheerful summer holidays – which tells the discovery of ancient experiments by researcher Paolo Zeder on a special ‘K terrain’ that allow those buried there to return from beyond. Avati’s stylistic approach, in which tension and fear arise from simply narrated situations instead of full-blooded scenes with a strong visual impact, finds here a perfect match with Maestro Riz Ortolani’s score.

  • Godzilla vs. Destoroyah Original Soundtrack LP

Akira Ifukube Returns! It’s 1996 AD and Toho decide to freeze their Godzilla franchise, so what better way to go out with than a nuclear meltdown, which happens in GODZILLA VS. DESTOROYAH. Directed by Takao Okawara, the epic kaiju flick has Godzilla deadlier than ever before, with the absorption of uranium sending the temperature of his nuclear reactor heart soaring, which will ignite Earth’s atmosphere and kill everybody when it explodes. Oh, and there’s also another kaiju on the loose, the prehistoric mutation Destoroyah. It never rains but it pours!

Returning to score GODZILLA VS. DESTOROYAH was Akira Ifukube, the man who created the Big G’s sound in 1954. Fittingly, for his final film, he got to lay Godzilla to rest once again, but first brought back several of his older pieces for the mayhem, including the original Godzilla theme, with another repurposed for the amazing new Super-X3. Destoroyah also receives a terrifying theme with powerful brass, but even his strength isn’t enough for Godzilla’s awesome force. But with that comes the death of the Big G, and Ifukube composes a beautiful requiem for his final scene. The king is dead. Long live the king! (Charlie Brigden)

Fanatics of ’70s Italian giallos take note…

Behold a veritable smorgasbord of sounds that is Ennio Morricone’s score to Dario Argento’s debut film, THE BIRD WITH THE CRYSTAL PLUMAGE (a.k.a. L’uccello dalle piume di cristallo) from 1970.

Considered one of the genre’s gold standards, Maestro Morricone’s stunning sonic work is a masterful accompaniment to the knife-wielding images on the screen. This colorful (yet dark) score features il Maestro’s trademark scat vocal harmonies, beautiful melodies, and mandatory sinister themes – perfect musica for this wonderfully stylistic giallo masterpiece.

The first of Argento’s “animal trilogy” series, the music on THE BIRD WITH THE CRYSTAL PLUMAGE is a lovely mix of string-infused bossa, to tenser and instrumentally sparse passages that Morricone does so well.

Just be sure to handle the piumaggio cristallino with care… we suggest wearing your black gloves.

As the darkness begins to close in, it’s soon clear that Sarah has unknowingly become the conduit to a horrifying, new discovery…

Inspired by the work of Nicolas Roeg, William Friedkin, Stanley Kubrick, and David Cronenberg, as well as sleep studies conducted by Berkeley University, COME TRUE seeks to ask what would happen if we could see other people’s dreams? What would we see? What would we discover about ourselves? What if these shadows from our collective dreams saw us looking back at them?

The music of COME TRUE was composed by celebrated synth-pop duo Electric Youth and electronic artist Pilotpriest and encapsulates a dark, dreamworld landscape that carries viewers across the journey of the film with pulsing urgency.

ELECTRIC YOUTH is a Toronto-based duo consisting of Bronwyn Griffin (vocals, songwriter) and Austin Garrick (producer, songwriter, synthesizer, drums). Their initial breakthrough came in 2011 when their song “A Real Hero” was prominently featured in the movie DRIVE and went on to be nominated for a 2012 MTV Movie Award in the category of “Best Music” and was named one of the 20 Best Songs of 2011 by Rolling Stone. Their second studio album “Memory Emotion” was released in 2019.

PILOTPRIEST is the music/composing moniker of Anthony Scott Burns. Under this pseudonym, he has released a number of critically successful albums and EP’s, including the twice sold out triple LP cult hit “Original Motion Picture Soundtrack”, which was released on Waxwork Records.

Waxwork Records is excited to present COME TRUE Original Motion Picture Soundtrack as a deluxe vinyl release featuring heavyweight “Sleep Study” colored vinyl (Cyan Blue with Red and Yellow Splatter), new artwork by Sara Deck, old-style tip-on gatefold jackets, a heavyweight insert, liner notes, and production photography.

  • People Under The Stairs Original Soundtrack LP

First-ever LP release of this Wes Craven classic from 1991. Composer Don Peake created an incredibly atmospheric and spooky score for this film. Peake’s career is insane having played on albums by Marvin Gaye, Phil Spector, Everly Brothers, Mahalia Jackson, John Lennon, Jackson Five and so on. It’s an incredible career and his musical diversity shines on this score. Fun fact: People Under the Stairs opened at the #1 spot at the box office and stayed in the top 10 for a month.

  • Fried Barry Original Soundtrack LP

Ship to Shore Phono Co. is proud to announce the physical release of Fried Barry: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack by Haezer!

Former film editor and now DJ & music producer Haezer taps into a parallel universe where Boards Of Canada melded with Brian Eno and produced nothing but Darkwave ambient nightmares with this score to the trippy South African comedy-horror sci-fi movie Fried Barry, a motion picture that achieved much critical acclaim on its recent festival run.

Fried Barry sees our titular character – a drug addict and ne’er-do-well – abducted and used as a living avatar for an alien being intent on going on a joyride through Cape Town to learn about the human experience.

Haezer’s score becomes the beating heart of the film and is stuffed with enough bass pulses, electronic soundscapes and nerve-scraping string motifs to satiate any fan of dark ambient, film scores or experimental electronic music.

The LP is available to pre-order now on limited edition “Barry’s Brain” splatter vinyl, featuring artwork by Christopher Shy and a full-color insert with liner notes from Fried Barry Writer / Director / Producer Ryan Kruger!

  • La Chiesa Original Soundtrack LP

“La Chiesa” (The Church) is a 1989 film, directed by Michele Soavi (who a few years later would be the director of the famous “Dellamorte Dellamore”, inspired by a Tiziano Sclavi’s novel and his comic book character Dylan Dog) and produced by the master of Italian horror Dario Argento, who also participated in the writing of the story and screenplay. As when it was released, the film elicits diametrically opposed reactions still today: some consider it a masterpiece of the genre, some others a poor product, the symbol of an era – we are in the late ’80s – of decline and lack of inspiration. The truth probably lies somewhere in between and “La Chiesa”, if we also consider that it was initially meant to be directed by Lamberto Bava, still defends itself very well, both from the visual and the musical point of view. The songs selected for this release are those composed by Keith Emerson and the Goblin, the latter being a pseudonym of the only Fabio Pignatelli. The result is a stylistically homogeneous soundtrack, in which classical, rock and electronic sounds are skillfully blended. Emerson, in particular, makes extensive use of a church organ, mindful of his work for Dario Argento’s film “Inferno” of a few years earlier (1980), while Pignatelli clearly shows his ‘goblinian’ soul, just updated by about a decade . Given that this is the first-ever vinyl reissue, this release is basically a must-have for the soundtrack collectors, especially in the horror genre, where Italy is synonymous with quality once again. It also includes the two tracks “Suspence chiesa 1” and “Suspence chiesa 2”, absent in the original 1989 LP.

Ship to Shore PhonoCo. is very proud to present Vince Pope’s score to Issa López’s acclaimed dark fairy tale Tigers Are Not Afraid, on limited edition vinyl!

The film plays out as a dark fairytale, set against the harsh reality of a Mexican city in which a group of orphaned children living rough in the streets butt heads with the local murderous cartel, all the while their most recent addition – Estrella – is literally haunted by a dark presence…

The music helps weave the tapestry of the story together, dark ambient moments are punctuated with touching melodies that will pull at your heartstrings with a soundscape that is simultaneously creepy and melancholic in all the good ways.

The soundtrack is pressed onto an orange-with-black-splatter variant LP, and also comes with a voucher offering a 30 day free trial of SHUDDER!

  • Ganja & Hess (Original 1973 Motion Picture Soundtrack) (RSD 2018 EXCLUSIVE)

Strange Disc Records proudly presents the original soundtrack to one of THE groundbreaking films of African American cinema, Ganja & Hess (1973).

Ganja & Hess is a seminal work of African American cinema, flirting with the conventions of blaxploitation and horror cinema, Bill Gunn’s revolutionary independent film is a highly stylized and utterly original treatise on sex, religion, and African American identity. Starring Duane Jones (Night Of The Living Dead) & Marlene Clark (Midnight Cowboy, Enter The Dragon) as the leading roles.

Ganja & Hess was honored as one of the ten best American films of its decade by the Cannes Film Festival but was barely distributed to American audiences. Commissioned at a time when ‘blaxploitation’ movies like ‘Shaft’ played as blockbusters in African American neighborhoods, it was suppressed in the United States because it did not turn out to be the Hollywood genre film the producers intended, so Ganja & Hess was withdrawn when Gunn went beyond the vampire genre and turned in an original product.

The original cut was donated to the Museum of Modern Art (MOMA) whose restoration work & screenings helped build the film’s reputation as a neglected classic of independent African American cinema. The restored version later received a superior DVD & Blu Ray release through Kino Lorber and in 2014 the film was remade by Spike Lee as ‘Da Sweet Blood of Jesus’.

The soundtrack to this exceptional film was composed Sam Waymon, a creative legend who has contributed to local, national and world culture. Born in North Carolina, Sam Waymon began his musical odyssey playing along with his sister, Eunice. His sister left North Carolina in the ’50s and traveled north to pursue her career. Along the way she
dropped her given name and became one of music’s most influential and independent musicians, known as Nina Simone.

Sam performed with and wrote music for his sister for over ten years but finally broke away to develop a style of his own that combines gospel, R&B, blues and jazz. Sam went on to record for record labels like: RCA, Polygram, and his own label Resolution records. He has worked side by side with legendary artists such as Miles Davis, Donnie Hathaway, Roberta Flack, The 5th dimension, and the list goes on and on.

Even more haunting than the film is its music, Sam Waymon created an innovative, ahead-of-its-time mixture of soul, tribal chants, gospel and trippy, dissonant experimental cues that makes for the strangest score for a vampire film.

Now, for the FIRST TIME ON VINYL (or on any format) Strange Disc records proudly presents a deluxe color vinyl edition (with insert containing exclusive liner notes & rare photographic materials) exclusively for Record Store Day 2018. Curated and supervised by composer Sam Waymon himself, this release is strictly limited to 1000 copies worldwide & available in participating stores on 4/21.
